Volunteer With GITC

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Guitars in the Classroom. It's the extra little help from people like you that makes our work possible. Although we are open to any ideas you have, below we have listed some common applications for a GITC volunteer.

OPPORTUNITIES

- Guitar Players who would like to assist or coach in a local GITC Class. This often includes helping with...
Tuning, sitting position, chords, finger positions, demonstrating good guitar technique, encouraging others, and leading song.

- Assistance with organization, fundraising, outreach, local PR, or just helping us find the right people.

- Helping out at GITC concerts: set-up, co-ordination, booth staffing, outreach

WANT TO TEACH GUITAR TO KIDS?

Guitars in the Classroom does not provide direct services to children. To achieve maximum effect, we directly train TEACHERS/EDUCATORS to integrate music and song-based learning during the regular classroom day at their school. If you would like to provide direct guitar instruction to children, opportunities are abound. Schools and after school programs everywhere are looking for help providing these services. You might consider:

- Contacting your local GITC Program for suggestions
- Inquiring in your own community at organizations such as the ymca, boys and girls clubs of America, Boys and Girl scouts of America, community centers, departments of park and recreation, religious institutions.
